Christmas Island

A very lovely place and it is nice to be tranquil at anchor. The bird life is wonderful.

Christmas Island tomorrow

Fast sailing but still rather a lot of movement. So Clemencia and Karsten are looking forward to an early Christmas present tomorrow - land!

Third day

We are sailing just under 150 miles a day. Have decided to make a stop at Christmas Island. All getting more accustomed to the motion and eating and feeling well.

First day at sea.

It was a rough start. We finished all the formalities and tidied Balaena and then had a last delicious meal on the shore.

At 4pm we dropped the mooring and motored out into a fresh wind and choppy sea. By the time we had sailed down to the south tip of Bali we were all a bit queasy and unfortunately even when we could sail our course with the wind it was still uncomfortable and we have all felt a bit rotten.

Now I have got my sealegs and Karsten is much better, only Clemencia still feels poorly. At least we are sailing fast and making excellent progress.

Going to sea

We leave Serangan in Bali in a few hours. Sailing towards Cocos
Keeling. Look for position report tomorrow.

Tanah Lot temple, Bali

Arrived in Bali

We had a little hiccup on the trip. Jetstar cancelled our flight
(they said for maintenance but as we we all put on the next days
flight I suspect that they decided to fly one full plane rather than 2
half full ones) and we arrived a day late.

It is quite a job getting used to the heat and starting on
preparations for the voyage. Magnus and Ana have everything in good
order and have already done most of our shopping so there is not so
much to do and we are getting on well.

At present we are taking a little sightseeing tour in Bali and staying
a night ni an air-conditioned hotel which is very welcome after the
heat and humidity on Balaena.

We hope to set sail early next week.

More news soon
